Yesterday we had a great service day at Clinton. I even got to discuss my mural inspirations with Kevin Tsujihara the President of Warner Brothers Home Entertainment. How cool!
150 came to support City Year and we served for about 3 hours. The murals were inspired by Mayan (Latino culture) and Zulu tribe (African culture) designs that look similar to each other. I fused patterns from both cultures to make a double staircase mural with inspirational quotes. Hopefully students can see that when two cultures work together they can make a beautiful picture.

Today before getting out of bed I tried thinking of the most delicious healthy breakfast I could make with what I had and I came up with a sauteed asparagus and french onion cheese omelet and a peanut butter banana smoothie with dark chocolate almonds. It was really amazing. After breakfast I indulged in a bit of reality TV. For late lunch I made chili/lime/coconut tempeh with soybeans and quinoa. Then it was roommate movie date time for the 5 year engagement! My personal opinion was that it was ok. Pretty funny but a little long. They also make Ann Arbor look like a snow hole and it's not true. It's such a glorious campus. My movie critique could be a little biased towards my passion for the University of Michigan.
This mural really brings me back to playing hockey in the driveway with my grandpa, and it also has a great positive message for students. I can't wait until the Warner Brothers Service Day at Clinton Middle School tomorrow!
